Type A and B static ropes are ropes with little elongation and a sheathed core. Type A ropes must carry a minimum load of 22 kN, type B ropes have lower parameters to meet. Type B ropes usually have smaller diameters, the minimum load capacity is 18 kN and are usually used where the weight of the equipment is a critical factor.
