All-weather fire detonator from Ferrocerium alloy. The metal rod of fire-iron has an amazing property: When scraping with a sharp object, small metal particles, they will spontaneously ignite in air and immediately burn as bright, hot sparks about 3.000 °. So even beginners master the traditional art of creating a fire caused by sparks. A little dry tinder enough, e.g. unravels a paper handkerchief. Originally developed for the Swedish army, Ferrocerium lighters are now standard equipment on the survival and outdoor use. They work even when wet and can also be used nightly for signaling with flashes of light. The radio power comes only when you scrape with a sharp knife or back of the enclosed micro-saw firmly on the metal rod along. It is therefore classified as non-flammable and subject matter as also no restrictions on air transport. Enough for thousands of ignitions. Complete with strong leather straps, a micro-saw radio as a string and instructions. Ferrocerium-Rod: Length 55 mm, diameter 6 mm.
