The Newton Window Prism
The English mathematician, physicist and philosopher Isaac Newton (1643 - 1727) was one of the founders of modern colour theory.
Prisms like this one were quite common as toys in his time. Newton, however, was one of the first to conduct experiments with them, which then led him to his famous and not undisputed theory of colours and white light. This extra-large prism made of high-quality crown glass projects intoxicatingly beautiful spectral colours into the room. A slight rotation of the prism makes them dance in an enchanting way.
