Aerial Silks for Aerial Acrobatics

The aerial silk, also known as aerial fabric, aerial silks, or circus fabric, is a versatile piece of equipment used by professional performers as well as in training and performances at circuses, dance studios, and pole dance facilities.

This highly specialized apparatus offers an impressive blend of strength, grace, and acrobatics, and requires precise installation to ensure safety and functionality. Our aerial silks are available in thirteen vibrant colors and can be ordered in any desired length to suit individual needs and spatial requirements. Aerial silks can be purchased by the meter, allowing you to get the perfect custom length.

Additionally, we offer various rigging systems specifically designed for secure and long-lasting installation on ceilings and beams. Each aerial silk and its components undergo rigorous quality checks at our facility in Eibelstadt, Germany, where we test for maximum breaking load (BLL) and working load limit (WLL).

This ensures that all products meet the highest safety standards. Installation requirements vary depending on the structure and material of the ceiling. We provide detailed installation guides and strongly recommend having the load-bearing capacity verified by a qualified professional on-site. Our aerial silks, also referred to as circus fabrics, are suitable even for beginners and children.

Proper installation is crucial to ensure the safety of all users.
How high does the ceiling need to be for aerial silks?
The minimum ceiling height for installing aerial silks should be carefully measured to allow for safe use.

▶️ Here you’ll find a video on how to install aerial silks:

An ideal ceiling height is at least twice the desired fabric length. This provides enough flexibility for using the fabric in various ways, such as a hammock or aerial yoga swing.

What Can You Do with Aerial Silks?

Aerial silks are mainly used for acrobatic exercises and performances. They allow for a wide range of aerial moves and silk techniques – from basic hanging and swinging to advanced wraps, climbs, and drops.
More and more often, aerial silks are also used in fitness routines for pole dance, children's circus programs, and dance studios, where they help improve strength, flexibility, and body awareness.

How Much Space Do You Need for Aerial Silks?

In addition to ceiling height, the surrounding space is important to safely use aerial silks. There should be at least a 2–3 meter radius around the fabric to ensure that users don’t collide with walls or other obstacles during practice. The area should be kept clear of furniture or objects to maintain a safe training Environment.

Using Aerial Silks Outdoors

Outdoor use of aerial silks is possible but requires extra caution.
It is important not to leave the fabric hanging outdoors permanently. Being a textile product, aerial silk is affected by UV exposure, which can significantly degrade its strength and safety over time. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can reduce the fabric’s maximum load capacity and pose safety risks. To preserve durability and functionality, always store your aerial silk properly after outdoor use.

Aerial Silk Knots – Why the Correct Knot Matters

Correct knot tying is essential for safety and functionality during use. A properly tied knot ensures that the fabric is securely attached to the rigging point, minimizing the risk of slipping or sudden detachment.
It also distributes weight evenly, reducing material wear and extending the lifespan of the fabric.
Improper knotting, on the other hand, can cause fabric damage and compromise user safety by loosening unexpectedly or damaging the material.
It is therefore vital to become familiar with the recommended knotting techniques and to apply them correctly.
